On the same day as the Met Gala, Kanye West hosted a secret Yeezy Season 10 fashion show in Los Angeles, showcasing a group of skinhead models. Meanwhile, Ye’s fashion brand, Yeezy, is facing a lawsuit from Brooklyn creative director Katelyn Mooney, who claims the brand owes her nearly $100,000 for a photoshoot featuring Kanye.
Kanye West hosted a secret Yeezy Season 10 fashion show in Los Angeles on May 1, 2023, billed as “YZY FREE.” The fashion show barely featured new designs but showcased a group of skinhead models wearing skintight white t-shirts and black pants.
The event occurred at the same time as the Met Gala in New York, considered fashion’s biggest night. Frank Ocean also soundtracked the Yeezy Season 10 show. In addition, the “YZY FREE” moniker may allude to the fact that Kanye is now free of his previous attachments with Adidas, which is still recuperating from the loss, and the high-end Italian fashion brand Balenciaga.
Kanye West Has Another Lawsuit
Meanwhile, Yeezy may not be free of trouble. Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Gerald Lebovits ruled that Ye’s brand, Yeezy, must pay $300,000 to Katelyn Mooney, a creative director in the fashion industry who sued Yeezy for nearly $100,000 for a photoshoot featuring Kanye and the SHDZ sunglasses line.
Mooney claims that she delivered the final digital photos in September 2022 but was only paid $15,000 of the agreed-upon amount. According to her lawsuit, she had to take out loans and maxed out her credit cards to cover rent and other bills after not receiving payments for two months.
This is not the first lawsuit against Kanye West’s Yeezy brand. In the past, Ye was sued by a former employee for breach of contract. He has also been called out by the creative director of Supreme.
On the same day as Kanye West’s secret Yeezy Season 10 fashion show, many hip-hop stars such as Cardi B, Diddy, Yung Miami, and more took over the Met Gala red carpet, showcasing their fashion on fashion’s biggest night.
