On April 2, The CMT Music Awards recognized this year’s top country artists at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas. Ceremony co-hosts Kane Brown and Kelsea Ballerini welcomed a number of esteemed musicians to the stage, including The Black Crowes and singer-songwriter Darius Rucker for a special performance of the 1991 hit, “She Talks To Angels.”
Rucker took center stage for the performance, kicking off the track on lead vocals. The Black Crowes’ Chris Robinson took over on the second verse, and two vocalists continued to trade lines for the duration of the song. During the final chorus the vocalists presented the final lyrics in soulful unison, slowing things down to let the emotion of the track bleed through.
Following the CMT Music Awards performance, the musicians are set to join forces again for an episode of CMT Crossroads, which will air in May. In addition, both acts will individually embark on a series of live performances this summer. The Black Crowes are slated for a handful of festival appearances, with more information available on the band’s website.
Darius Rucker will kick off his expansive Starting Fire tour on June 15 and remain on the road until mid-Oct. The impending run will include 21 stops across the U.S. and Mexico. Find the full tour schedule and ticketing information here.
