Pharrell Williams was recently named the men’s creative director at the French luxury fashion brand, Louis Vuitton. The singer-songwriter and fashion designer will be taking over for the late creative director Virgil Abloh.
Legendary producer and musician Pharrell Williams has been named as the new men’s creative director for the French luxury brand Louis Vuitton.
Louis Vuitton’s CEO Pietro Beccari announced Pharrell’s new role in a statement on Feb. 14 and expressed his excitement about welcoming him to the company.
“I am glad to welcome Pharrell back home, after our collaborations in 2004 and 2008 for Louis Vuitton, as our new Men’s Creative Director. His creative vision beyond fashion will undoubtedly lead Louis Vuitton towards a new and very exciting chapter.”
Pharrell The Fashionisto
Pharrell’s role will be effective immediately, and his first collection will debut in June for Men’s Fashion Week in Paris.
The “Happy” singer takes the same job the late Virgil Abloh had before his passing in 2021. In fact, Pharrell and Kanye West supported his last fashion show for Louis Vuitton. In the past, Kanye shared that he was offered the same role at Louis Vuitton, but the deal was dropped, according to a 2022 interview with French news outlet Clique TV.
Ye later started partnerships with Balenciaga and Adidas but has cut ties with both companies.
Pharrell has had a reputation for his fashion sense throughout his career. In 2014, he popularized an oversized fedora hat he wore at the Grammys and partnered with Adidas in 2020 to release human-made sneakers.
