Akon Cracks Into NFT Hustle

Music veteran Akon‘s newly-announced non-fungible tokens (NFTs) platform aims to “supercharge and empower” fellow artists.

Music mogul Akon, whose birth name is Aliaune Damala Badara Akon Thiam, announced the Akoin team behind the cryptocurrency AKN has partnered with Taqo.io to launch the AkoinNFT platform for NFTs. It has been a challenging time for creatives, with many unable to resume activity due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In response, NFTs have seen growth by creating opportunities for struggling artists and their fans. NFTs are cryptographic assets that can have variable features. They have been used to represent a wide range of unique tangible and intangible items, from art to collectible sports cards to virtual real estate and even digital sneakers. (Coin Desk)

Tekashi 6ix9ine Cracks Into NFT Hustle

In April, New York rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine‘s own Tekashi.digital storefront was presented as the go-to location to secure his NFT release. It included two pieces of unique 3D animated artwork integrated with memorable clips from his music that took place during a 3-day auction to the highest bidders.

In addition to the 2 rare auction pieces, the NFT sale features 3 uniquely animated 6ix9ine cover art integrated with full versions of his biggest hits.  The sale of each animated NFT is divided into a gold version, limited to 125 pieces per song and a silver version, limited to 1000 pieces per song. The auction pieces create unique experiences for the owners where the assets bridge the digital and physical world.

Tek also issued a statement on his new NFT rollout.

“No other artist can do it like me, no other artist can put up my numbers” boasts 6ix9ine.  “I even have my own standalone storefront setup for my fans and NFT collectors.  Everyone else isn’t on their own platform.  I got my own platform.  Ah ha ah ha.”
